Welcome to
Himachal Children & Development Organization.
The
organization was originally founded in the year 2000 to give
the homeless and helpless children and the unfortunates an
opportunity to be educated and self dependent through building
a school which yet is a dream but the organization realized
that there were a lot more things to do before it gets any
closer to its real goal.
It happened in a day, when the idea of helping street children,
who were, in all the manners of civilization, being at a stage
that promised no future. A compassionate friend came up with a heart throbbing poem “Heart of a child”, which, without knowing where it would lead, planted the first seed to forming this organization. The goal was to give an opportunity to the unfortunates, giving them a better education system, food, fun and the other necessities they lacked in life.
Eventually the organization moved further on the path that
wasn’t an easy one. It was named “Himalayan children’s
home”. It was difficult to get people together for this good cause and have them spend their time which is always
very precious to everyone. It wasn't an easy task to get the first
recognition from the district court. Only after two years and a lot
of effort, in 2001 finally the organization gained recognition. It was a battle won to establish something new, something that will be the hope of many.
Soon enough another milestone had been done as it got its state level recognition in the year
2005 in Shimla by the state registrar of the societies acts.
During the whole period there were hard times where volunteers,
friends and colleagues thought of leaving the organization for it was a task that required more time than they could give but the team managed to hold on that today there are at least 4000 youths all
over the state and throughout India looking up to us to achieve the missions given to our organization.
The H.C.D.O. is attempting to create opportunities in the
various fields without any discrimination of color, caste,
creed, religion, nationality or racism.
